Arsene Wenger's assessment was short but sweet.
"They tried to mark him man-to-man all over the pitch but, despite that, he always found moments of brilliance and he was outstanding again." said the Arsenal manager.
And there could have been only one player about whom Wenger was so effusive with his tribute - Cesc Fabregas.
The Spaniard is currently the best player in the Premier League, with his ability to unlock defences and to make and take goals unparallelled in the top division.

Indeed, Fabregas appeared hell-bent on Wednesday night on ensuring Arsenal did not blow yet another chance to top the league after their 2-2 draw at the Emirates against Everton earlier this month.
Of the 59 goals the Gunners have scored this season, their skipper has hit 14.
Fabregas has also provided 16 assists and is up alongside Didier Drogba at Chelsea and Wayne Rooney as the three players set to decide the destiny of the title.
Wenger added: "We believe we have a real chance and we will have a real go.
"It is very important we keep a good mixture between humility, feet on the ground and, of course, ambition and desire to win it."
Wenger maintains there will be no crowing from either Fabregas or his team-mates as Arsenal go hunting the points that could open up a gap between the Gunners and their closest pursuers.
Six weeks ago, after Chelsea humbled Arsenal 3-0 in their own backyard, the result produced a triumphalism at Stamford Bridge which has come back to haunt the Blues.
Wenger insists the feet of his players will remain firmly on the ground as they bid to build on their return to the top.
He added: "[Wednesday's] result shows, first of all, that things can change quickly.
"When you keep belief, no matter what people say, it can strengthen the belief in the heads of the players and get them stronger.
"But I'm very proud of what the players have achieved. At the time, it looked a bit ludicrous to say we'd come back. But the players have played with that belief."
